City Of Las Cruces Seeks Federal Reimbursement For Immigrant Services

Las Cruces City Councilors want reimbursement from the federal government in exchange for providing basic services to thousands of immigrants.

A resolution approved by council members yesterday calls for quote “federal immigration reform and reimbursement for city expenses accrued while helping asylum seekers.” End quote. The city has provided services to more than eight-thousand immigrants released onto the streets by border officials since April.
