Former city council member Claudia Ordaz no longer faces ethics charges. The city came to the decision yesterday. Ordaz was accused of going over the allowed limit stipulated by a city ordinance for a representative’s use of discretionary funds. The issue stems from a six thousand dollar expenditure authorized by Ordaz for a mailer encouraging district six and seven residents to disapprove of a proposed lower valley medical waste facility. A city ordinance allows any elected city representative to freely spend only up to one thousand dollars of discretionary funds.
