Probation Modification Bill Clears State House

A bill that changes the way probation and parole rules breakers are handled is headed to the state Senate.  House Bill 263 was approved by House lawmakers in Santa Fe on Saturday.  The bill calls for a graduated penalty system for parole and probation rules breakers instead of just automatically sending those violators behind bars.  The changes would not apply to any parolee or someone on probation who breaks the law.
