A state office is working to recover from a cyber-attack.
The Albuquerque Journal reported yesterday that a suspected ransomware attack from what investigators say may have originated in a foreign country hit the state’s Public Regulation Commission web servers last Thursday. PRC spokesperson Deswood Tome says the agency’s website is down and the e-filing system has been taken offline. A statement from the governor’s office says the situation was immediately quarantined and has not spread to other state government digital assets. The FBI is working with New Mexico’s IT department in the investigation to determine the source, nature and scope of the attack.
